Falko Schmidt awarded prestige SNSF Postdoctoral Fellowship at ETH

February 01, 2023

Falko Schmidt has been awarded a prestige PostDoctoral Fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) for an ambitious project on mapping 3D optofluidic flows. The research performed at the Nanophotonics Systems Laboratory under Prof. Romain Quidant at ETH Zurich will investigate the generation of microfluidic flows from 3D heat sources. These novel techniques enabled by light will help improve the development of better and faster PCR tests as well as shed light on the fundamental aspects involved for instance in the crucial role of flows and pressure for cell tissue development.

Out of 750 applications only 74 applicants have been chosen to receive a 2 years grant for their project. Congratulations!
