We’re excited to share that Falko Schmidt has been elected as the new Chair of the Optical Trapping and Manipulation in Molecular and Cellular Biology Technical Group within Optica. His three-year term will span from 2025 to 2027, during which he will lead the group’s efforts in fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative community.
As Chair, Falko will focus on organizing engaging social and scientific activities that bring together researchers working at the forefront of optical trapping and manipulation. This includes:
- 📡 Webinars with invited experts, sharing cutting-edge research and practical insights
- 🤝 In-person conference events, such as panel discussions, plenary talks, and networking meetups
- 🌐 Community-building initiatives designed to strengthen interdisciplinary ties and highlight our collective technical expertise
Whether you’re deeply involved in the development of optical tweezers, exploring cellular biomechanics, or applying trapping technologies to new biomedical challenges, this group aims to provide an interactive and inspiring platform for connection and collaboration.
